Mrs. Tami Dunn is the Le Mars Community Schools’ 2025 Teacher of the Year and awarded the annual Decades of Excellence Crystal Bell award.Mrs. Tami Dunn has taught General science at LCHS for the past 25 years. She is currently active as a member of the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) team thru the district's Teacher Leadership program. Since 2010, she has been the head girl's track coach and prior to that, an assistant girls track coach and head girls cross country coach.Tami and her husband, Darin, live at “Brown Dog Acres”, in southwest Plymouth county. They enjoy their family: Brandt and Morgan Van Roekel and grandson Elliott; Beau and Maci Ohm; Preston Dunn; and Kylie Dunn and Daniel McKinley and grandsons Jaxon and Micah.Mrs. Dunn was nominated for this award by colleagues, parents, students, and student athletes. Her peers had many of the same comments: “Tami creates high expectations that are taught at the start of the year and held consistent throughout the year. There is a high level of excitement and energy in her classroom. Her classroom is a dynamic learning environment where theory meets practice. On her coaching: There is a team culture of trust, communication, respect and hard work.”The Decades of Excellence Crystal Bell award is co-sponsored by the LCSD Foundation and the LCSD Alumni Association. The award is presented annually to honor outstanding teachers who have dedicated their careers to the education of our children.
